Lemosho Route
The 7-day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route offers an exhilarating trekking experience, providing one of the most scenic and less-traveled paths to Africa’s highest peak. Starting from Kilimanjaro's western side, this route features a gradual ascent through diverse ecosystems, from lush rainforests to alpine deserts, culminating at Uhuru Peak’s icy summit.
This itinerary’s slower pace allows for better acclimatization, enhancing summit success rates. With breathtaking views and fewer crowds than other routes, the journey, guided by expert teams, ensures an unforgettable experience with a focus on comfort and safety throughout.

Tour Information
The Lemosho route is one of the least used starting points for climbing Kilimanjaro, primarily due to its remoteness and challenging access roads. Accessible only by four-wheel-drive vehicles, the trailhead may become impassable in adverse weather. Starting at a relatively high elevation, the trek begins at a slow, gentle pace. On the first day, there’s a chance to spot buffalo and elephants in the forest, though the trail is often overgrown due to limited use.
This is one of the longest routes up Kilimanjaro, making physical fitness essential for a successful, enjoyable experience. The Lemosho (Shira) path covers 7 days and 6 nights on the mountain. With considerable distance and effort required in later stages, this route is ideal for experienced hikers. The journey through diverse landscapes, including the stunning Shira Plateau, makes the experience truly unique. Note that there are no shelters along the path; camping will be done in mountain tents.
