Detailed Itinerary
Upon arrival, you will register at the village office, and your trip will begin. First, you will visit Materuni Waterfall, which is approximately a 40-minute walk away. Along the way, your guide will share insights about the culture of the Chagga people, village life, and the surrounding flora and fauna. The views are breathtaking, and with a bit of luck, you may even catch a glimpse of Kilimanjaro.
When you reach the waterfall, you will be greeted by its impressive height of over 80 meters. The pool at the base of the waterfall offers an inviting spot for a refreshing swim, so don’t forget your swimwear! After enjoying the scenery, you will return with your guide to Mama Agnes’s home, where you will savor a traditional Chagga lunch. You will also have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer—definitely not to be missed!
But that’s not all. Next, a coffee tour awaits you. Here, you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted, and processed. You will be invited to assist with grinding the coffee, traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances—a delightful way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before you say goodbye and return to your hotel in the afternoon, you can savor the coffee you have made while appreciating the views of the surrounding montane rain.
